VSA Indiana was founded in 1982 as Arts Unlimiting, and since 1986 it has been the state affiliate for VSA, an international program of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, founded by Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith, in 1974.

VSAI’s headquarters are located inside the Harrison Center for the Arts in Indianapolis. District Partners in six communities around Indiana (Columbus, Lebanon, Marion, Muncie, South Bend, and Terre Haute) ensure that individuals outside of Central Indiana also have access to programs.
